Latrines

In the Andean highlands of Peru the lack of basic services: drinking water and sewage is a favorable means for increased acute diarrheic diseases (ADDs) and intestinal parasitism, as well as environmental pollution.

For this reason there are areas where the presence of diseases such as cysticercosis is endemic.

SEMBRANDO promotes the construction of Latrines in order to help to improve this public health condition. The Program provides training to the families for the location, construction, use and maintenance of the latrine as well as the benefits that will be achieved.

The Program provides each family with a sanitary slab and a basin with cover, both made of fiber cement, that when installed are hermetically adjusted and that improves sanitation, reduces odors and can be used safely.
